Five Chinese nationals and a Pakistani driver have been killed after a suicide attacker rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into their convoy near Besham city in northwest Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident happened on Tuesday when the convoy was on its way from Islamabad to Dasu, the site of a key hydroelectric dam being constructed by a Chinese company, about 270km (167 miles) from the capital.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stated, “We will not allow nefarious attempts to harm Pakistan and China’s friendship to succeed.” According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on Tuesday and expressed condolences to the Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong over the killing of five Chinese nationals in the terrorist attack in Bisham.
On Tuesday, five Chinese citizens, including six individuals, were killed in a blast near Bisham in the Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On this occasion, he said, “We will continue the war against terrorism until its complete eradication. The government will conduct high-level inquiries into the Bisham incident and ensure that the responsible and facilitators are brought to justice.”
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were also present with the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said, “The entire nation stands in solidarity with the Chinese families.” During his conversation with the Chinese Ambassador, the Prime Minister also sent condolence messages to the Chinese President and Prime Minister regarding the incident.
ISPR Condemns Terrorist Attack: Pledges Joint Efforts with China
The ISPR spokesperson condemned the terrorist incident in Bisham on behalf of the Pakistani army, saying, “The whole nation stands united with our Chinese brethren.” The ISPR spokesperson said, “Recent incidents of terrorism are cowardly acts aimed at destabilizing the country’s internal security.” In a statement issued by the ISPR on Tuesday, it was said, “Pakistan and its strategic allies and partners, especially China, are being targeted as part of a systematic effort to create divisions.”

“Pakistan is the only frontline state against terrorism, and those involved in terrorism will be dealt with a resolute response with China’s unwavering support,” said the ISPR. The spokesperson of ISPR said, “We will ensure that terrorism reaches a logical conclusion. We will work together to control calamities and evils.” “Some foreign elements are involved in promoting terrorism in Pakistan for their own interests. Such violent actions against the armed forces cannot weaken our resolve,” said the ISPR.
